RaceNight Update (FEB26): Template & Baseline Version Control, Auto Updates

We have been hard at work making sure to bring you the ultimate setup app, and that means we are constantly adding new features and upgrading templates.

But here was the problem:  When we make an improvement to your templates, we don’t want you using outdated material. To accomplish that, we had to build a way to keep your old setup data and baselines perfectly in sync with the latest and greatest templates available. If all works well, you may not feel anything changed. And that's the point. 

This was a really complex change under the hood, so a major shout-out goes to our incredible developer, Ronald, for his work to make sure this happens in the background and does not interrupt your flow unless it's needed.

Here is what’s new in the latest release:

Baseline and Template Version Management

• Version Control: We now support template version control so you’ll be able to upgrade whenever we make improvements to a template you use. This includes dedicated changelogs so you always know what has been updated.

Automated Template Upgrades

• Seamless Updates: We have implemented a comprehensive, automated upgrade path for Setup Sheets and templates to ensure a smoother transition when we upgrade versions.
• Enhanced Upgrade Info: We include upgrade notes so you have the content for what’s changing.

Automated Baseline Upgrades

• Baseline Upgrade Paths: Alongside templates, we have established a dedicated, automated upgrade path specifically for Baselines.
• Auto Updates: To maintain data integrity, any critical update changes to Baselines are applied immediately so your foundational data is never out of date.

Template Version Messages and Data Posterity

• Change Context: You’ll know when and what has changed with clear communication around updates and versions.
• Update Review Notes: If a single tile has multiple updates, you can now easily cycle through them using new "Next/Prev" buttons right inside the update modal.
• Data Posterity: To prevent the loss of data from the setup sheet, any field names and data affected by a change are now explicitly written out. This information can be accessed via the lightning button or the warning icon on the affected panel, ensuring no data is ever lost.‍
• Interface Cleanup: Manually upgrade older templates when you want from the more menu (3-dots at the top of the page).
